"More from this two days than my college class!"

Even after instruction in a college course on photography about the technical aspects of a camera, I did not know why I was changing things to make a the picture better.  After Gregs Intro workshop, I know why I am doing what I am doing with my camera and how to change setting if my pics don't work out.

I would say that my ability to troubleshoot is night and day better and that I got more from this two days than my college class!

"More than expected"

I am leaving this workshop able to spend the money I have been saving for equipment.  The knowledge you passed on was useful and easy to understand.  I am so excited to shop! Thankyou for the information about Dons Photo, I will be going there soon.  I was never comfortable enough to walk into a camera store and buy quality equipment but now I am! Yay!

Not only did I learn what I was hoping to learn but the entire weekend was much more than expected.  You were very detailed in your delivery of information and made it easy to understand. I never felt lost. I would love to attend the studio and photoshop sessions.

Thankyou Greg

"I know WHY and WHEN to adjust the camera settings!"

For over a year I kept missing out on Greg’s workshop for one reason or another. I was finally able to get in on one this past August and it was SO worth the wait! When I walked into the workshop I had, in frustration, only been using my camera in the fully automatic mode and had given up using any of the other settings. At the workshop I learned what I was doing wrong with my camera and now know how to make adjustments to settings on the camera to get the shot I want, instead of just hoping it would turn out.

Previous to the workshop if I got a good shot it was pure luck, I didn’t know why it worked out or alternatively why it didn’t. Now I feel much more comfortable with my camera and am using it fully manual (no presets for me anymore!). I am able to adjust ISO, aperture, shutter speed, etc and know WHY I’m adjusting them and WHEN to adjust them! I am thrilled with the results I am getting. I no longer feel intimidated by using the manual setting and actually like it more now as I have control over what the camera is doing.

The workshop itself was very enjoyable and had such a relaxed atmosphere to it, open to questions and inquiries. Being able to go out and do some hands on learning during the workshop was great as well because you could have any problems addressed right then and there so you learned instantly by “doing”.  Greg is very passionate about what he does and that comes across. He makes the workshop a lot of fun yet keeps it so informative at the same time. Even the most basic questions from novices like me were answered with patience and a willingness to share his vast knowledge. A bonus is seeing his beautiful work and hearing storm chasing stories!

To wrap it up I got everything I wanted from the workshop and more. I cannot recommend this workshop enough, if you have any desire at all to improve your photography skills or learn more about how your camera works please don’t think twice. Sign up for a workshop now!

"I like the flexibility of your teaching style"

Greg, You're a great instructor! Dynamic and Fun and extremely knowledgable.  I like the flexibility of your teaching style, i.e. you're not stuck on your schedule and can answer questions/address topics as they come up.  I am really looking forward to future workshops.

You showed a lot fo good photos, however I think it would be helpful to show some "good vs bad" shots to illustrate points about composition/perspective/etc. Some of the items on the syllabus were not covered.  It might be helpful to have these workshops more often and/or to have an "advanced" course as a follow-up to this one.

Thanks

"this workshop has opened up my world"

This workshop has opened up my world as far as using my camera goes.  I am now looking forward to getting out and doing more than point and shooting with it.  I was definitely burnt out at the end, but it was excellent!

Hands-on Practical Approach Works!

“I read my owner/operator manual and truthfully came away with no skills. The hands-on practical approach & layman’s terms put it in a whole new understandable perspective. Info on equipment was helpful.”

"Straight forward and hands-on approach"

I enjoyed the straightforward and hands-on approach. I also liked how we touched on all subjects but went more into the complex, technical side.  These are aspects that honestly I wasn't aware of. The workshop was better and much more in depth and detailed than I had anticipated.

"Very worthwhile!"

I now have a better understanding of why I am using the various settings on the camera.  I no longer feel intimidated by manual or Aperture mode.  Very worthwhile! I am looking forward to getting out more with my camera. Thanks Greg for coming to Prince Albert.

Moose Jaw Canadian Club "Enthralled" with Presentation

On the evening of October 18, 2011, the Moose Jaw Canadian Club had the great pleasure of having Mr . Greg Johnson of Regina, accompanied by his wife, Wanita as  Guests of the Moose Jaw Canadian Club, meeting in the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa.

Mr. Johnson, renowned as  a Tornado/Storm Hunter  gave a  tremendously interesting  “power-point” presentation, along with  narration.  The Members of the Club  were absolutely  enthralled with the apparent “bravery, courage and daring”  that Mr. Johnson  shows by the very nerve-racking  situations that he finds himself in.

Also Mr. Johnson’s personality formed an easy connection to the Members who were completely  tuned-in  to his easy going manner which made for a most  entertaining evening.

Should the opportunity  present itself at some later date, the Club would  always be open to  consider a re-engagement.

As the Program Chairman, I am authorized to speak on behalf of our President, Mrs. Marga LaFond and the Membership of  the Moose Jaw Canadian Club.

Sincerely and for Canada,

Douglas and Catherine Marr,

Moose Jaw, Sask.,
